The team had a disappointing start at the Silverstone Classic Weekend due to brake problems in qualifying, which resulted in having to start at the back of the grid on both days.

Saturday’s race was a 30 minute sprint however going into the first corner the Porsche 926 spun and the Sabuer Mercedes ran into him (I am pleased I am not paying the bill), stopping the race.  Restarted the race and fought my way through finishing 3rd in class.

Sunday dawned extremely hot and just got hotter as the day went on. With it being a 90 minute endurance race, I was pleased to have Chris Porritt who is about 25 years younger than me as co-driver.  We had a pep talk from Mike Wilds pre race about dehydration in these conditions can be highly dangerous especially for us older men!!!

Starting from the back of the grid again, I fought my way through to second in class at the 45 minute driver change and refuelling. Chris then took over and did a great job (despite two spins) getting used to the awesome power of the March!  He proceeded to take the lead in the class and we won by 28 seconds.  After one and a half hours racing and refuelling.  A great weekend was had by all, looking forward to our next outing at Donington on 3rd – 5th October.  Great job done by the team here at Kelvedon, Tiny Tony, Mark and Roger.  Chris did a great job in the car, he had never even sat in it until he took over at the driver change, so we will forgive him the two spins. He also got a special award for the best rookie in a Group C car, he was due to drive the Porsche that the owner crashed in the first corner on the Saturday with the Sabuer Mercedes.
