Emerson Fittipaldi, the only driver in history to win two Formula One world championships, two Indianapolis 500 championships and an Indy Car world championship.
John Kalagian acquired the car in 1984 and raced it at Watkins Glen, Portland, Sears Point, Road America, Pocono, Michigan, Watkins Glen, Daytona Finale
In 1985 John Kalagian traded the car back to March.
Jim Bell crew chief saw the 1984 car (84 G 05) sitting there and did a deal to run this car for the 1985 Miami Grand Prix with drivers Emerson Fittipaldi and local hero Tony Garcia. After that event the Brassfield’s Darrin and father Jerry did a deal to race the car for 1985 and raced at Daytona 24 hour, Miami, Sebring, Road Atlanta, Riverside, Laguna Seca.
In 2007 Pat and Sue Thomas of Kelvedon Motors, Lotus dealers from Spalding in Lincolnshire brought the car back from America. The car has been fully restored by Pat Thomas, Tiny Tony Hills, Mark Rodgers and the team at Kelvedon.
Successfully raced in 2008 in the Group C Racing series achieving 2nd in class at Spa, 3rd in class at Le mans in the 24 hour support race and first in class at the Silverstone Classic.
A huge list of spares come with the car, including refuelling rig and full set of body moulds. |
